Who we are
Capital MedPrep offers science and MCAT tutoring in Ottawa, taught by Hussain Ghuloum, a Biomedical Science graduate of the University of Ottawa. These policies apply to every session, online or in person, and booking a session means you've read them and agree.
Capital MedPrep is independent. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by the University of Ottawa or any other school.
Booking and payment
- Request a session through the intake form on our website. Paid sessions are confirmed once payment arrives.
- Pay by Interac e-Transfer before the session starts. Packages are paid in full up front.
- Current prices are on the website. Prices may change each September, but anything you've already paid for keeps its price.
Packages and refunds
- The diagnostic is a free 20-minute session to see where you are and what to work on first.
- 10-hour packages expire four months after purchase.
- Unused package hours can be refunded at the package rate within 30 days of purchase. After that they aren't refundable, but you can still use them until the package expires.
Cancellations and lateness
- Cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours ahead and there's no charge.
- With less than 24 hours' notice, or if you don't show up, the session is charged in full or taken from your package.
- Real emergencies happen. Get in touch and we'll sort it out fairly.
- If you're late, the session still ends at its scheduled time. If your tutor is late, you get the missed time back.
- If we have to cancel, you choose between a free reschedule and a full refund.
Group sessions
- Group finals prep is for 3 to 6 students taking the same course.
- A session runs only if at least 3 students have registered and paid 48 hours before it starts. If it doesn't run, everyone gets a full refund.
- You can cancel your spot for a full refund up to 48 hours before the session.
Academic integrity
Tutoring is there to help you understand the material and handle it on your own. So:
- We don't complete, write or check anything that counts toward a mark before it's handed in: assignments, lab reports, take-home exams or online quizzes.
- We do work through similar practice problems, explain concepts, and go over graded work once it's returned.
- We follow your school's academic integrity rules and won't share course materials that aren't meant to be shared.
- Tutoring helps, but nobody can honestly guarantee a grade, a test score or an admission, and we won't.
Students under 18
- A parent or guardian fills in the intake form, agrees to these policies, and is copied on all scheduling messages.
- Sessions happen online, in a public place such as a library, or at home with a parent or guardian there.
- Tutors never message students under 18 privately. Every conversation includes a parent or guardian.
Privacy and contact
- We collect only what we need to tutor you: contact details, your courses, goals and test dates, and a parent's contact for students under 18.
- It's kept in one private account, never sold or shared, and deleted when you ask once you're done.
- Sessions are never recorded unless everyone agrees.
